Bush, Pope to meet in June
Washington, Mar. 12, 2007 (CWNews.com) - US President George W. Bush will meet with Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican early in June.
President Bush will stop in Rome to meet with the Holy Father and with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi during a June trip to Europe, where he will take part in a G8 summit meeting to be held in Germany on June 5-8. The American leader will be meeting Pope Benedict for the first time since the Pontiff’s election in April 2005. President Bush attended the funeral for Pope John Paul II, but not the installation Mass of Pope Benedict later that month. Vice President Dick Cheney and Florida Governor Jeb Bush, the President’s brother, led the US delegation to the installation Mass.
