Fr., I read the old rite and wow, what we have lost. Not only in the beauty of the rite, but the loss of context for ourselves. The minimalist approach of everything modern has truncated our world view. Even speech has been reduced to um.., like, you know. Our vocabulary has been shrunk to the utillitarian, we've killed eloquence. And here is my point, truth and beauty are inextricably linked. If we cannot define and describe beauty, how can beauty illuminate truth? Without proper context, a la the difference in the old and new rites, a meaningful opportunity for grace can become just another cultural phenomenon. Thank you for embracing the Holy Father's vision.
All of the rites side-by-side show what we have lost. It is no wonder the Dictatorship of Relativism reigns supreme in this post-modern world. Press the delete key and minimalism becomes nihilism! Be careful...Satan is cunning.
