Final Entry

A priest-brother came to me before Holy Hour today, and thanked me for having the courage to wear my cassock. He hopes this might start something.

I took this exchange to prayer before the Lord.

May this outward sign and symbol of the dignity of the Holy Priesthood start a Catholic Cultural revolution, beginning with the Sacred Ministers of God’s One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

My "odd little hat," the biretta, is in my office on a shelf. I too like the look of the saturno.

Priests wear cassocks at my parish all the time. In fact, I have noticed several seminarians choosing to wear them at various events, as well as younger priests.

A cassock on a priest tells me that for the most part, he is not disoriented in his theology and philosophy like others, for example, who wear ordinary street clothes.

Dear Odd Little Hat Wearing Pater,

When your fellow priest stated "He hopes this might start something", that reminded me of a saying we use in the Marine Corps...

Keep fighting the good fight, Father!

Whenever I see a priest wearing one, I think of St. Thomas Aquinas. (But that is only if the priest is a bit rotund.)......

Connie,

The internet has shrunk world travel to seconds.

My profile mentions OSM, but not "Servite" in particular. And only a select number of people associate the habit with the Order.

Pacific Northwest...Your blog info..."odd little priests hat" = typical Connie.
