I couldn't make it to Rome this week with my friends (sniff, sniff, tear, tear) but at least my cassocks are there. My good priest-brothers were in need of this distinct clerical garb for their trip to the Eternal City so they borrowed mine.

Montgomery Cliff? I Confess?
I just watched that for the first time last weekend. Very good movie!
So good of you to lend your garb. Now go grab a couple of tissues, take a deep breath...and pray that your priest brethren have those cassocks dry-cleaned when they are back in the USA...After all, it would be cruel to return your garb if had little reminder of good meals they had without you. You know, veal scallopine splatters, fresh-basil-tomato sauce smears...
There, there. Chin up, old chap. Just think of the stories your cassocks will tell! Fabulous tales! Transforming lore!
Areviderci soutana = See you later alligator...or See you late white garments?
No need to hide your face in this photo. We are sure you have grown up to be a fine looking fellow. And if not fine, well then quite passable.
Why couldn't you go? Did you forget your passport, too?????????????????????????????
Yes! Excellent! You win the prize!
Soutana = sou•tane [soo-tahn] –noun Ecclesiastical. A a cassock.
[Origin: 1830–40; < F < It sottana, fem. of sottano placed below, equiv. to sott(o) below (< L subtus) + -ano -an; form of the F word influenced by sous under]
Did they borrow that odd little hat too?
Looks like Rock Hudson to me.
What is the prize? Hope it is something good for the sake of that winner!
By the way, Fr. Gonzales, how is your old pal "Sorka?"
She's fine.
But she can't remember her password.
I should amend that last coment to "I am fine"
and then I should have said: "So, why are you asking?"
Rev. Fr. L.W. Gonzales, You simply must stop modeling yourself after priests -- even those who are movie stars -- who do not show recent photos of themselves on their blogs! -- Gerdie
Padre, I'm disturbed that your priest buddies don't have their own cassocks. There's an idea.....wouldn't that make a wonderful "Welcome back to America" gift for the lot of them?
Yes...yes, it would.
And you do qualify for the clergy discount. I'm just sayin'....
